There are controversial actions that are happening in close proximity to each other in the Mulhako wa Alhomwe Cultural Heritage, a brand in culture.
Soon after state president Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera elevated Senior Chief Kaduya to Paramount Chief, sequence of events have emerged.
Some Lhomwe chiefs told journalists at a press conference that Senior Chief Kaduya is not the rightful person for the paramountcy because is a Mang’anja by tribe. The chiefs faulted government for the move.
But government through director of chiefs, Charles Makanga in the ministry of local government, said Mulhako wa Alhomwe Cultural Heritage is in a better position to explain why Senior Chief Kaduya was selected as a rightful heir to the paramountcy.
On the other hand, some members of the Mang’anja tribe see the controversy as a supremacy over the Lhomwe tribe that now the tribe is under a Mang’anja chief.
With this controversy, the Mulhako wa Alhomwe Cultural Heritage has called on its members to follow laid out procedures when seeking information for clarification instead of rushing to members of the media.
Board secretary Muchanakhwaye Mpuluka said Senior Chief Kaduya was appointed as acting paramount chief in 2021 after the demise of the Mweene wa Amwene Paramount Chief Ngolongoliwa.
